UKR LXVE

This layered composition invites viewers to consider how historical arguments and geopolitical tensions intersect with human stories of love and loss. UKR LXVE transforms a personal motif into a call for empathy and awareness in times of crisis.

This image extends the original concept of Same Year's LXVE piece into a global dialogue, addressing themes of peace and territorial conflict. Incorporating building maps, handwritten poetry, and symbolic colour fields of blue and yellow, the work references Ukraine’s struggle and the fragility of borders.

Drawing on found materials, scanned textures, and fragments of urban life, Same Year creates layered compositions that blur the boundaries between personal experience and collective memory. His practice often incorporates maps, handwritten notes, and graffiti—captured directly from the environment—reflecting a fascination with how place and history shape human connection.

Same Year, who grew up in Sidmouth, is a contemporary artist whose work, through experimental digital collage, explores where identity, environment and global narratives intertwine, forging new understanding.
