Two Women In A Car park

This exhibition looks at mothers and sons and their relationships to each other through the media of written texts by writer Selima Hill and outdoor prints of original artwork by local artist Moby Hill.

Exhibition now showing at Riverside Art Space, Sidmouth

Prize winning poet Selima Hill, grew up in Dorset in a family of painters. Awarded the first Kings Gold Medal for poetry in 2025, she enjoys collaborating with other artists - a sculptor, a composer and a dance company are recent examples. She has worked in hospitals, prisons, schools, universities and a monastery as a keen supporter of the value of the arts in the community.

"Two Women in a Car Park" addresses two of Selima’s favourite subjects: mothers and sons and is loosely based on the conversations between two women in a carpark talking about their sons.

Selima’s voice is unique in contemporary British poetry, eclectic, humorous and surprising, side by side with her son Moby’s artwork, heightening both the absurd and mundane with colour and darkness – together evoking a depth of emotion that can catch you.

Moby Hill lives and works near Axminster, East Devon and trained at The Camberwell School of Art. He continues his father’s legacy of draughtmanship and bold painting. Here, his visual interpretation using the poem titles is in biro and posca pens.

This exhibition presents a selection of the full collection of images and text which are brought together in a new book “Two Women in A Car Park” by Selima Hill with artwork by Moby Hill, published by South West independent publisher Guillemot Press and available from www.guillemotpress.co.uk
